    Luke Moravec is the host for Northland Morning on The North 103.3. He’s also a local actor, musician and writer. He loves puzzles, riddles and fun mysteries.
  • Lisa Johnson
    Christine is The North 103.3's Music Director, a host of Music Through the Day, and the producer of Live from Studio A. One of her favorite things about her job is the opportunity to share music from the Twin Ports’ many talented local artists. In her spare time she takes full of advantage of Duluth’s outdoors opportunities.
  • Katelyn is a dynamic on-air personality and producer at The North 103.3 FM, where she hosts Northland Afternoon and produces the weekly local music spotlight The Local.

    Morgan Kohler came to Duluth in 2015 to study at UMD where she earned her B.A. in Communication. She volunteered and worked at The North 103.3 FM from 2015 to 2019 on the student marketing team and hosted shows on The Basement, Music Through The Day, and The Women’s Music Program. She returned in August 2024 as a staff member.

  • Annie Dugan is a passionate advocate for the arts, education, and independent film. She is the host of "Where’s Art?" on The North 103.3 FM, where she highlights local artists, exhibitions, and creative movements across the Duluth area.
  • Bob King, widely known as Astro Bob, is a passionate astronomer, writer, and educator based in Duluth, Minnesota. A longtime photojournalist and amateur astronomer, he has dedicated his career to making the wonders of the night sky accessible to all.
  • Brian Lukavitz
    Brian Lukasavitz, J.D. is an Assistant Professor of Business Law at the Labovitz School of Business and Economics at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He specializes in legal research and writing, entertainment and media law, and business law. Lukasavitz holds a B.F.A. in Theater from the University of Minnesota–Duluth and earned his J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
  • Chris Harwood is the former Production Director/Program Director of The North 103.3, and the host of Soul Village. He is also a musician, a music historian, an audio engineer, and an avid record collector.
  • Dave Woodward is the Director of the Museum Studies Program and an Instructor in the History Program at the University of Minnesota Duluth. With over 25 years of experience in public history, historic preservation, museology, and archaeology, he has conducted research both domestically and internationally, including in Poland, Guatemala, and Mexico.
  • Graham started his musical journey playing guitar at age 8. In recent years, he has expanded to also playing electric bass and jazz drums. Beyond music, he bounces between many other hobbies, including gardening, game design, writing science fiction, powerlifting, and countless others. He is also a lifelong public radio fan, co-hosting the program Finding the Groove on The North 103.3 for the last several years.
  • Larry Weber is a naturalist, educator, and author based in northern Minnesota, known for his deep expertise in phenology—the study of seasonal changes in nature. With over 40 years of experience teaching biology and environmental science, Weber has inspired countless students and nature enthusiasts through his engaging approach to outdoor education.
  • Laura Erickson is a renowned ornithologist, writer, and educator based in Duluth, Minnesota. She is the creator of "For the Birds," the longest-running radio program about birds in the United States, airing since 1986. Through her work, she has inspired countless bird enthusiasts with her deep knowledge and passion for avian life.
  • Liz Minette is a poet and short fiction writer based in Esko, Minnesota. She has been writing and publishing for over 20 years, with works featured in various literary journals and anthologies. Her poetry chapbook, November – Poems, was self-published in July 2014. Minette has contributed to publications such as The Great American Poetry Show, Nerve Cowboy, and Calyx – A Journal of Art & Literature by Women. She was also a finalist for the Mentor in Creative Prose & Poetry at the Loft Literary Center and the Beyond the Pure Literary Fellowship at Intermedia Arts.
  • Mike Mayou is a former Duluth City Councilor from the Second District. Elected in 2021 at the age of 23, he was an advocate for accessible streets, environmental sustainability, labor equity, and infrastructure improvements. Mayou has served on multiple commissions, including the Duluth Public Utilities Commission and the Metropolitan Interstate Council.
  • Miriam Hanson is a yoga instructor, retreat leader, and radio DJ based in Duluth, Minnesota. She is the Yoga School Director at Svälja Yoga, where she leads teacher training programs and specializes in trauma-conscious yoga.
  • Phoebe Davis is an Indigenous community advocate based in Duluth, Minnesota. She serves as a Commissioner on the Duluth Indigenous Commission, where she works to promote visibility, equity, and cultural awareness for Indigenous peoples in the region.
  • Rebecca Lindquist is a business owner and community figure based in Duluth, Minnesota. She is the owner of Lindquist and Company, a local business specializing in retail kitchen and bath design.
  • Scott Holmes is a passionate educator, creative thinker, and lifelong learner based in Cloquet, MN. With over 25 years of experience as a chef, Scott transitioned into the world of education, earning a bachelor's degree with an emphasis on English, Education, and Writing. His journey has taken him across the globe, teaching English in China and Vietnam, where he thrived in immersive cultural experiences and innovative teaching methods.
  • Scott "Starfire" Lunt is a musician, radio host, and community organizer based in Duluth, Minnesota. He is best known as the founder of the Homegrown Music Festival, which began in 1998 as a small birthday party and has since grown into an eight-day celebration featuring over 170 bands across multiple venues.
  • Ted "Wolfman" Anderson is a guitarist and vocalist with the Duluth-based honky-tonk band Father Hennepin. Known for his gritty style and heartfelt delivery, Ted has been a core part of the group’s sound since its early days. Alongside frontman Starfire and fellow bandmates, he’s helped shape the band’s signature blend of soft rock and twangy country, earning them a perennial spot at the Homegrown Music Festival where they’ve performed more than 25 times.
  • Tim Winker is a longtime automotive journalist, editor, and Saab enthusiast. He served as the Editor and Publisher of NINES, the official magazine of the Saab Club of North America, for 13 years. Under his leadership, the publication evolved from a newsletter into a bi-monthly magazine, providing Saab owners with technical insights, historical features, and community updates.
  • Tom Kasper is a landscaping expert, greenhouse owner, and community advocate based in Duluth, Minnesota. He co-owns Kasper Outdoor Services, a business specializing in landscaping and outdoor design, and is actively involved in Bending Birches Greenhouse, which offers a diverse selection of plants, flowers, and gardening supplies.

  • Adam Kempenaar is co-founder and co-host of Filmspotting and a professor at the University of Iowa, where he teaches courses on film criticism, sports and cinema, and podcasting. A longtime member of the Chicago Film Critics Association, he also serves as a marketing and content consultant for the Chicago International Film Festival. Adam earned his B.A. in Communication Studies and M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication, with a focus in Film, from the University of Iowa after studying English at Grinnell College.
  • Billy Henry is a voice talent, musician, composer, and college lecturer based in Austin, Texas. Since July 2019, he has been the host of StarDate, the longest-running national radio science feature, airing on more than 300 radio stations.
  • Britt Aamodt is a writer, journalist, and historian specializing in Minnesota culture, arts, and history. She is the author of Superheroes, Strip Artists & Talking Animals, published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press, which explores Minnesota’s contributions to the comic book industry.
  • Chantel SinGs is the anchor and host of North Star Stories, bringing daily news and community centered reporting to listeners across Minnesota. Her work highlights voices from communities that are often underrepresented in statewide coverage, and she regularly leads conversations with local experts, educators, health professionals, and community leaders. Through her reporting and on air presence, she helps connect Minnesotans to stories that reflect the diversity, challenges, and resilience of the state.
  • Darrell Brogdon is the host and creator of The Retro Cocktail Hour, a long-running radio show on Kansas Public Radio that celebrates the space-age pop revival. Since its debut, the show has featured vintage recordings from the Hi-Fi era, blending lounge, exotica, and bachelor pad music into a uniquely curated listening experience.
  • David Gans is a musician, songwriter, journalist, and radio host best known for his work in Grateful Dead media and storytelling. He has hosted the nationally syndicated Grateful Dead Hour since 1987, bringing live recordings, interviews, and deep dives into the band's legacy to audiences across the U.S.
  • Ernesto Lechner is co-host of The Latin Alternative, a nationally syndicated public radio program dedicated to Latin rock, indie, hip-hop, funk, and other alternative Latin music genres.
  • Grant Barrett is an American lexicographer, dictionary editor, and co-host of the nationally syndicated public radio show A Way with Words. Known for his expertise in slang and emerging English, he has led editorial teams at Dictionary.com and contributed to dozens of major dictionary projects, including works for Oxford, Cambridge, and Collins. He’s the author of Perfect English Grammar and several dictionaries of slang and political language, and co-founder of Wordnik.com.
  • Jamie Dell'Apa is the host and producer of Searching for the First Rock and Roll Song, a radio show that explores the roots of rock and roll through rare and overlooked recordings. Based at WWOZ in New Orleans, Dell'Apa has been curating this program for over 18 years, bringing listeners deep cuts from small regional record labels that helped shape the genre.
  • Jill Fratis is a broadcast journalist and radio host with National Native News, where she anchors the daily newscast covering Indigenous issues across the United States and beyond. An Unangax̂ journalist from St. Paul Island, Alaska, she brings a strong focus on Native communities and storytelling rooted in lived experience.
  • Josh Landy is co-host of Philosophy Talk, a nationally syndicated public radio program that explores philosophical ideas in an engaging and accessible way.

  • Kathy Mattea is a Grammy-winning singer and songwriter who has been the host of Mountain Stage, the long-running live performance radio show produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting, since September 2021.
  • Katie Marie and Joe Bly are the hosts of High Country Celtic Radio, a program dedicated to traditional and contemporary Celtic music. Based in northwestern Nevada, they bring the rich sounds of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Northern Spain, and the Isle of Man to listeners across the high desert and beyond.
  • Katie Stone is the host and producer of The Children's Hour radio show and podcast. Her goal is to create informative, entertaining, and engaging programming for listeners of all ages, while showcasing local kids and kid-friendly organizations. She works with a dedicated crew of young producers who help shape every episode, from writing and voicing scripts and reviews to choosing jokes, themes, music, and guests, and assisting with all aspects of the live broadcast.
  • Lisa Tucker hosts "The Great Lakes Odyssey Radio Hour," an NPR-broadcast program focused on the culture, history, and stewardship of the Great Lakes basin.
  • Marie Rock is a radio host, producer, and community advocate based in Minnesota. She is the host of MN Native News, a program that provides weekly coverage of Indigenous issues, events, and voices across the state.
  • Martha Barnette is the author of reader-friendly books on word origins. She has a background in ancient Greek and Latin, studied Spanish in Costa Rica, and worked as a newspaper reporter for major metropolitan dailies. Raised in the South, she now lives in San Diego, where she’s often found hiking mountain trails and performing with an improv comedy troupe.
  • Michael Johnathon is a folk singer-songwriter, producer, author, and playwright known for his contributions to American folk and roots music. He is the founder and host of WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour, a nationally syndicated program that celebrates folk, bluegrass, and Americana music.
  • Molly oversees the production of Big Picture Science. She has worked as a science journalist for the BBC, including World Service, Radio 4 and Science/Nature Online. She has also written for New Scientist. She taught radio writing and podcast production for ten years at the University of California, Santa Cruz Science Writing Program.
  • Nick Spitzer is a radio host, folklorist, and professor known for his deep expertise in American roots music and cultural traditions. He is the creator and host of American Routes, a nationally syndicated public radio program that has been exploring the diverse sounds of blues, jazz, gospel, country, Cajun, zydeco, and more since 1997.
  • Pat Mitchell Worley is a radio host, music publicist, and advocate for Memphis music. She is the host of Beale Street Caravan, a globally syndicated roots radio show that showcases live performances and stories from Memphis and the Delta region.
  • Raina Douris is a Canadian radio broadcaster and music journalist, best known as the host of NPR’s World Cafe, a nationally syndicated program that explores contemporary and classic music through interviews and performances.
  • Randy Simon is a scientist, engineer, and radio host with over 30 years of experience in renewable energy technology, materials research, and environmental science. He is the host of Earth Wise, a public radio program that explores green business, environmental legislation, and the evolving relationship between nature and technology.
  • Ray Briggs is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Chicago, specializing in metaphysics, epistemology, time, causation, and gender studies. They have published extensively on philosophical topics and co-authored What Even Is Gender? (2023). Briggs became a co-host of Philosophy Talk after previously teaching at Stanford University and other institutions.
  • Rosalie Howarth is a radio host, producer, and music curator known for her work in world and acoustic music broadcasting. She is the host of the Putumayo World Music Hour, an internationally syndicated radio show that takes listeners on a journey through global music traditions.
  • Sarah Austin Jenness joined The Moth in 2005 and serves as its Executive Producer. Over the past two decades, she has worked with hundreds of storytellers to shape and refine their personal narratives for stages across the world. She is also one of the hosts of the Peabody Award–winning The Moth Radio Hour.
  • Seth is the Senior Astronomer at the SETI Institute, in Mountain View, California. He has an undergraduate degree in physics from Princeton University, and a doctorate in astronomy from the California Institute of Technology. For much of his career, Seth conducted radio astronomy research on galaxies, and has published approximately fifty papers in professional journals. He also founded and ran a company producing computer animation for TV.
