Step into the 1920s for an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music, and history at Glensheen! Begin your evening by entering through the Juliet Balcony, where you’ll be greeted with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres before heading downstairs to explore Glensheen’s basement. Discover 1920s-inspired activities and artifacts on display, enjoy music from the era, snap a photo in the billiards room, and take in a few surprises along the way. Enjoy a selection of fun, 1920s-inspired cocktails available for purchase at the cash bar before settling in for an engaging history talk by local historian Tony Dierckins. Tony will present “Drying Out Duluth: From Temperance to Prohibition,” exploring Duluth’s complicated relationship with alcohol—from the city’s early liquor ordinances and temperance movement to Prohibition and the creative ways Duluthians continued to enjoy a drink. Following the talk, enjoy dessert and a special 1920s-themed experience to round out the evening. Dress to impress and embrace the spirit of the 1920s for this one-of-a-kind night at Glensheen.

Catch Superior Seafood Boils out on the fest field every other Friday night for a Cajun boil from a small, family-run catering business owned by Joey, Amy, and our son Ryder. What started as Joey’s love for New Orleans turned into a mission: to bring the taste, fun, and spirit of an authentic Louisiana seafood boil up north.

The 2d Annual "Dining at Denfeld" features a spaghetti dinner fundraiser along with student music and drama performances. A raffle with a homemade quilt, 2 REI Beach Chairs, and a cooler plus root beer and ice cream, will also help raise funds to benefit the Denfeld Music & Drama Departments and the Denfeld Historic Organ Restoration & Preservation Alliance (DHORPA).

The Friends of The Felgemaker invite you to experience what it was like to attend a
silent movie!
Renowned organist Aaron David Miller will accompany the classic 1920 silent horror
film “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 on the historic Felgemaker
pipe organ housed at Sacred Heart Music Center.
Perfect for the Halloween season, “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” is spooky, stylish and
historically significant. It is a groundbreaking German horror film which set standards
for creative camera work and featured a dark and twisted style of storytelling. It is
widely considered the first true horror story put to film.
Attendees are encouraged to come dressed for Halloween, adding to the film’s haunted
atmosphere.
Aaron David Miller returns to Sacred Heart Music Center to accompany this film on the
Center’s outstanding Felgemaker pipe organ. Miller is noted for his highly imaginative
and creative style, found in his performances, improvisations and compositions. He has
won numerous international awards for improvisation and has given concerts and
accompanied silent films across the country.
Advance adult tickets are $20 (plus a $3.18 handling fee) and are available on
Eventbrite HERE. Tickets will be available at the door for $20 while supply lasts. All
students can pay $5 at the door. Doors at 6 pm. Show at 7.

Martha Scanlan is an award winning songwriter based in western Montana. Her writing comes out of some of the deepest roots of Americana, winding between the mountains of East Tennessee and some of Montana's most remote landscapes including a 120 year old cattle ranch where she spent years living and working. She appeared on TBone Burnette's Cold Mountain soundtrack with former bandmates Reeltime Travelers. Her songs have been covered by Sarah Jarosz, Andrew Marlin, Amy Helm and Solas and have found their way into books by celebrated American authors Rick Bass and Joyce Carol Oates.

Jon Neufeld lives in Portland, Oregon and plays with a variety of musicians there including longtime bands Jackstraw (bluegrass) and The Kung Pow Chickens (Gypsie jazz). Well known for his innovative guitar playing, he is also a multi-intrumentalist, producer and mastering engineer. He has appeared on The Tonight Show and NPR's Tiny Desk Concert with his former band Black Prairie and toured Europe in an impossibly small rental car with famed Portland Indie band Dolorean. He recently co- produced and engineered Smithsonian Folkways Roll Columbia: Woody Guthrie's 26 Northwest Songs.
