Northern Nights, Starry Skies
Star light, star bright, First star I see tonight; I wish I may, I wish I might, Have the wish I wish tonight.
More than 80% of the world’s population lives under light-polluted skies. Light pollution can negatively impact wildlife and ecosystems, human health, climate change, crime and safety and night sky heritage. Join the UMD Institute on the Environment for a showing of the documentary Northern Nights, Starry Skies, a visually stunning celebration of our spectacular starry skies…The documentary is a co-production of PBS North and Hamline University’s Center for Global Environmental Education. This star-studded(!) event takes place Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium, located at 1023 University Drive, Duluth, MN. Informational tabling and refreshments will begin at 5:30 pm, followed by the documentary showing from 6-7 pm and tabling and conversation from 7-7:30 pm. Join us for a spectacular evening of star filled skies and learn what you can do to protect them! The event is free and open to the public but REGISTRATION is required. Photographer, Travis Novitsky, will be available for book signing!
