In honor of Archaeology Month, 106 Group will be hosting a series of free archaeology lab tours and interactive learning stations.

Archaeology is about more than uncovering artifacts. It is about connecting those cultural and historical objects to the lived experiences of the real people who once held them. Join 106 Group for an immersive, hands-on program, exploring how archaeologists use material evidence to understand the past, connecting people, place, and time.

Through both interactive learning stations and guided tours of our labs, participants will examine modern and historical objects, participate in a simulated artifact screening, and explore how archaeologists interpret evidence to expand our knowledge of the past.

The program will highlight real discoveries from a recently excavated urban archaeological site in the Twin Cities, demonstrating how archaeological research can help tell the stories of communities whose histories may be underrepresented in traditional written records.

Location: 550 Vandalia St. Suite 102, St. Paul, MN 55114

Recommended Age: 10+ (participants under 16 should be accompanied by an adult).

Registration Required: Reserve free tickets using the link below or here. Each session runs approximately 2 hours and is limited to 25 attendees. A waitlist is available, and additional sessions may be added based on demand.

Veterans Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society, is partnering with the Minnesota Humanities Center to present Objects of War: A Storytelling Circle of Service, Memory, and Community on Thursday, September 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Lakeside-Lester Park Community Center. The event is free, and advance registration is required.

For Objects of War, participants are invited to bring an item connected to military service or the experience of war and conflict — such as dog tags, a service member’s good luck charm, a photograph, a letter, or a family heirloom — and share the story behind it. Guided by trained facilitators, the evening will explore why we hold on to certain objects and how those objects help us better understand the human impacts of war. Participants should come prepared to share a story, listen to others, and enjoy a light meal together.

Celebrate aging + nature in NE MN! Connect, learn, and collaborate to make outdoor spaces welcoming, meaningful, and inspiring for all ages.

Join us in Duluth for a day dedicated to reimagining how nature supports healthy aging in Northeastern Minnesota. This convening brings together community leaders, organizations, and volunteers to explore the physical, mental, and social benefits of nature.

We are honored to feature keynote speaker Larry Weber, a renowned Northern Minnesota naturalist, author, and advocate. Larry will share a 45-minute presentation on regional flora/fauna and how nature experiences adapt as we age, followed by a 15-minute Q&A.

Participants will discover practical, adaptable ways to advance age-inclusion, learn how to remove barriers, and explore programs that can be scaled across Northland communities. Together, we’ll strengthen cross‑sector relationships and build a collaborative approach that unites aging services, health, parks and recreation, and volunteers. The day culminates in identifying concrete next steps toward a shared regional vision: ensuring that people, place, and purpose remain deeply connected through nature as we age.
