This Saturday morning, February 7th, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, Friends of the Felgemaker are inviting youth and their families to the Sacred Heart Music Center in Duluth, to learn more about the instrument and to hear some tunes from the “How to Train Your Dragon” film franchise. Who knows? You might even get to see an actual dragon!
What is a Felgemaker? It’s a large antique organ, built in 1898, which is housed inside the Sacred Heart cathedral. Resident organist Charles Sundquist will be playing some selections from the “How to Train Your Dragon” soundtrack, which was selected because of how strongly the film and its music resonates with children.
The Duluth Zoo will be there, bringing along some of their bearded dragons. There will be a small pipe organ model for the children to assemble, to better visualize how an organ is winded and how it works.
If the magic of music and dragons intrigues you, the event begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 7th at the Sacred Heart Music Center, located on 4th Street and 2nd Avenue West in Duluth. It’s free!
It’s requested that all children are accompanied by an adult for this event.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
