The St. Louis River Alliance is offering opportunities for community members to get outside for some fresh air, as well as some education in the coming weeks.
On Sunday, February 1st from 4pm-5:30pm, folks are welcome to gather at the Morgan Park Community Center for a Full Moon River Walk. Organizers recommend dressing warm, using the restroom before arriving, and maybe bringing a headlamp along. The walk along the riverbank will be at a leisurely pace to take in the sights and sounds of nature. This event is part of the annual community celebration Winter Out West.
On Saturday the 7th of February from noon until 2pm at Munger Landing in Duluth is an Ice Safety event. Enjoying the rivers of the Northland in the wintertime comes with risks, and being educated on the temperament of the water is one of the best ways to stay safe. Experts from the DNR will guide participants and offer easy tips to check for ice thickness and more. The event will also include some safety items for participants to take home, and an opportunity to enjoy the warmth of a bonfire and some hot chocolate.
