The upcoming weekend brings a variety of ways to celebrate. With Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 20th, events and community gatherings have been planned for all to attend.
Celebration begins with a Community Worship at 4pm on Sunday at Pilgrim Congregational Church. Events continue the following morning with a Community Breakfast at First United Methodist Church. The various locations tie into the connectivity of the community and the theme of this year's celebration. "Collaborating through the community, one church, another church... one people," says Cashmere Hagbourne from Family Freedom Center.
The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day march begins at 10:30am at Family Freedom Center and culminates at the DECC for a series of performances. "It's a couple days of excitement for MLK," says Tim Squalls, aka Loc Da Realist, one of the featured performers.
