Crystal Pelkey has an extensive history with stages in the area; on-stage, off-stage, and backstage. "Stages are definitely no stranger to me," says Pelkey who was involved with the opening of the Playground Theater, the Underground Theater, and the Teatro Zuccone. These days, she's taking a deeper dive into her own creativity. "For decades I've produced other people's work," says Pelkey. "But now I'm actually in the stage of bringing some of my own ideas to the forefront." Initial ideas lean toward the experimental... and may or may not include a romantic tale about her childhood dolls.
Pelkey's musical journey started with a cassette purchased when she was eight years old, it continued with a first concert that she had to beg for permission to attend, and it endures today with a guilty pleasure song that gets belted frequently... when she's alone. "I will skip it if I have company in my car."
