Community Connection: Lake Superior Aquaman
When Jim Richardson moved to Minnesota from California he discovered a whole new world - beneath the surface of Lake Superior. "I have kind of a shark phobia," says Richardson. "I literally cannot swim in the ocean. When I moved to Lake Superior... suddenly I could be underwater and be completely safe."
Years ago, Richardson noted a deficit of underwater videos from the area. Since then, he's been donning the classic Aquaman outfit, diving into the lake, and emerging with footage for an ever growing fanbase - over 1400 people currently follow Lake Superior Aquaman on Facebook.
When it comes to goals, Richardson takes a humble approach. "I'm not making any money at this. It's my vocation," says Richardson. "My philosophy is to live life as art. When I'm dressed as Aquaman... I carry all the mystery of the sea."
