Hayes Scriven knew that he'd return to the North Shore someday, and doing so by becoming the Site Manager at Split Rock Lighthouse may have been fate.
"There's always been a strange draw for me to Split Rock and I'm not sure what it was." As a two-year-old, Scriven visited the lighthouse for the first time. Decades later, he was there again to propose marriage. Now he's on-site everyday.
"It was a goal to get to the shore," Scriven says. "Coming to Split Rock was that super awesome cherry on top."
Scriven has since spent some time visiting other lighthouses and now has a short list of future sites to visit: Rock of Ages (Isle Royale), Standard Rock (40-miles off the shore of Marquette, MI) and St. Augustine (Florida) "In the next few years... I'm hoping I'll at least be able to get to two out of the three."
