Dan Proctor's early-mid-life crisis led him to Duluth in 1981. Since then he has largely gone without a car, without a cell phone, and without a television.
Over 40 years later, Dan Proctor has become a fixture of Duluth's Chester Bowl neighborhood. His work (done largely with handheld tools) on the area hiking trail inspired the city to name the trail after him.
In our conversation, Proctor speaks about the connectivity of neighborhoods, the serendipity born from walking, and the satisfaction (and good night's sleep) that comes from an honest effort.
