As battery technology continues to evolve in recent years, large and long-term storage batteries are becoming a helpful component of a power grid, adding the ability to store energy for future days - or seasons - when renewable power from solar and wind are not as easily attainable.
We speak with Bryan Herrmann, the Vice Chancellor of Facilities at the University of Minnesota Morris, about the implementation of just such a system at UMM, and their collaboration West Central Research and Outreach Center to form CREST, the Center for Renewable Energy Storage Technology to further explore the research and use of battery storage technology.
