Back Tracks: Three Music Questions with Jonathan Thunder

The in-progress mural by Jonathan Thunder at Zenith Bookstore in Duluth

From a "cake" job in downtown Minneapolis to the American Southwest and finally to Duluth, Jonathan Thunder's route to artistic success has involved brush strokes on canvas and lines across a road map. Thunder's current focus is on a mural outside of Zenith Bookstore and you can learn more about his work on his website.

Before starting a successful professional track in the art world, Thunder asked his mom to buy him an album with a parental advisory warning on it. Later on, his first concert found him at the Minnesota State Fair. As a new father, Thunder has been playing a lot of songs for his son that range from 90s hip hop to cartoon kids' songs. "There are times when I'm in my studio and I'll just start belting out one of their little melodies."
