Where's Art: "Secret Surprises"

Art has a way of surprising us by popping up just about everywhere. Leading into this week's edition of Where's Art, Annie Dugan heard the song Kom On Inn by Woodblind and couldn't resist noting that the Kom On Inn in West Duluth bolsters some impressive murals on their walls. "They are these beautiful paintings of industry... that contributed to the economy of Duluth," says Dugan.

Look for more surprises at the Merrill Lynch gallery at the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth. Susanna Gaunt opens the year-long project Great Lakes Almanac on Thursday, June 15th from 6-8pm. "I think Gaunt's work is a perfect embodiment of this relationship that we have with that lake," says Dugan. "She uses really tactile paper so when you're looking at it... you can feel it with your mind."

One last noteworthy surprise; the Tweed Museum of Art will have regular hours this summer. This is a change from last summer when the museum was closed. Hours can be found on the Tweed's website.

You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
