This week highlights a few exhibitions that are shining a light on art by young people in the Northland.
North Shore Bank of Commerce in Duluth has a public exhibition opening on Wednesday this week. The work on display focuses on three different times of day; daytime, nighttime and sunrise. The pieces were created by youths involved with the Boys and Girls Club and include individual works as well as collaborative pieces. Youths were guided through the process of creating art by area artists Moira Villiard and Michelle Defoe who will also have work displayed at the exhibition.
An East High School exhibit taking place at Zeitgeist in Duluth has its closing reception on Friday from 4-6pm. The exhibit is showcasing art students that are moving on to continue pursuing an art career after graduation.
And a quick foray into the world of theatrical arts - Ann Gumpper has been working in scenic design in the Northland for years. This June, her scenic work will be on display during the Lyric Opera of the North's production of Cavalleria Rusticana. The show opens June 9th.
