Radio Gallery 11-02-2010: Elizabeth James

James, a new addition to the Northland's art scene, spoke with Radio Gallery this week about her work on display at the Duluth Art Institute in an exhibit called "Borrowed Essence." It is a tribute to the Northland region as seen through two large installations and six smaller landscape pieces. The element of landscape in her work represents her interpretation of the natural world in the Northland area as seen through her new experiences in relocating to this area. She shares her ideas of how the environment impacts us socially and personally, the inspiration of Lake Superior, and the use of porcelain and stone in her work. James has made this exhibit in order to give the community the opportunity to see her personal vision of the Northland, and can be seen at the Duluth Art Institute until December 5th, 2010.
