Epidemiologist Dr. Catherine McCarty joins us this morning for a half-hour of conversation about the two kinds of testing much of the world is anxiously waiting for: the test to see of someone has COVID-19 and the test to see if they have the antibodies.
But it's still an uphill fight. The US lost ground in it's delayed response to the pandemic, and even where there are enough test kits, there is still a shortage of masks, gowns and other PPE (personal protective equipment). And even though researchers are racing to develop tests and vaccines, there is just so much about this virus (it's called "novel" coronavirus for a reason) that we just don't know.
