The Climate Crisis can seem like too much at times. Other than changing habits to lessen our carbon footprint, sometimes it seems like our actions aren't having the impact that we would hope.
Enter "participatory science".
For the third year now, the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota Duluth is hosting the Our Climate Futures Conference. This year the event will be held on February 3rd-4th and offers a variety of events that focus on getting community members involved with data collection.
"We need more boots on the ground to help us monitor changes," says Julie Etterson from the Institute on the Environment at UMD. "Community engagement is just so critical. We need to have everyone's perspective."
The Monday and Tuesday conference will be filled with presentations, workshops, art installations, and field trips. Our Climate Futures is free and open to everyone. For more information and to register for the conference, visit the Our Climate Futures Conference website.
You can hear Green Visions at 8:20am every Wednesday on Northland Morning.
