There are many ways to be more diligent in preventing pollution as it pertains to stormwater. That's the focus of the 2024 Wisconsin Stormwater Week that includes daily webinars and encourages individuals to take action with their own projects.
"We had our governor sign a proclamation that established, this year, September 21st through the 29th, as the official Stormwater week," says Megan Högfeldt, a Water Resource Specialist for the City of Superior. "The weekends that bookend Monday, September 23rd through Friday, September 27th... are weekends for people to host their own events." During the weekdays residence and interested parties can attend a number of different webinars covering various topics regarding stormwater.
For Högfeldt, the current measure of success is awareness. "We have... an added responsibility to take care of the water that's leaving our city," says Högfeldt. "We've established a Wisconsin Stormwater Week... in itself [it's] a great accomplishment."
