In 2024, Salt Awareness Week is going big. "The original Salt Awareness Week began in Wisconsin," says Megan Högfeldt, Water Resources Manager for the City of Superior. "[This year] is the first nationwide Salt Awareness Week."

Throughout Salt Awareness Week from January 22nd - 26th, interested parties can listen to various speakers talk about the issues surrounding salt and its permeation into area freshwater. Speakers will present virtually from 12:30-1pm, Monday through Friday.

To register for the speaker series and to learn more about actionable plans for residents, visit the Wisconsin Salt Awareness Week website. "This is an unfortunate conversation," says Högfeldt, "but there are things that we can do to protect our resources."

You can hear Green Visions at 8:20am every Wednesday on Northland Morning.
