The skies look to be clear, and the moon will be out of sight. It's the perfect conditions for a meteor shower.
The Geminid meteor shower will be visible from December 12th-14th and it should be quite a show. "It kind of doesn't matter what direction you look to watch this meteor shower," says Bob King. "I usually like to tell people with any meteor shower just to look in your darkest direction."
King recommends bundling up, finding a place out of the wind, and giving yourself at least half an hour of viewing time. Rural areas could see more than a hundred meteors per hour, but light pollution can cut that number down by more than half.
You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
