The sun casts a shadow. Even Venus can cast a shadow. But Jupiter? "Yes!" says Bob King who was able to capture a picture of a shadow against his white garage door from light cast by Jupiter low in the sky. "Venus can do it... that's an easy one if you're in a relatively dark place." For the long-time astronomer, the Jupiter shadow was a first.
King also notes that the Orionid meteor shower will peak on Sunday October 22nd between midnight and dawn. "It's not a big shower... this is only a ten, to maybe fifteen or twenty [meteors] tops per hour."
