It was a late night for many who stayed up to see the Aurora. "Everything was just shaking," says Bob King of the Northern Lights on September 18th. "I was just at a road intersection, there were just cars everywhere."
As always, if you missed one thing up in the cosmos, there's another thing just around the corner. Mercury is starting to pop up on the eastern horizons at dawn. Locate the planet by first finding bright Venus then looking down and to the left.
Also of note, the Equinox is coming up this Saturday the 23rd, but this doesn't necessarily mean that daylight is exactly equal to night. The date when night and day are closest to equal is September 25th, on the Equilux.
You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
