Delegates from Minnesota-based non-profit Climate Generation will be making the trip to Dubai for the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) from November 30th-December 12th.
Sofia Mulholland Cerkvenik is making the trip to UAE for the second week of COP28. "This is a really exciting time," says Mulholland Cerkvenik who is looking forward to many of the youth education elements of the conference as well as the review of the Paris Agreement. She'll be bringing along a shirt that reads "Teach Climate."
As a teacher, Mulholland Cerkvenik felt compelled to be involved with COP28 specifically to help create climate justice related curriculum for students. "There are so many amazing resources out there," notes Mulholland Cerkvenik. However, as a Minnesota Studies teacher in a Spanish immersion program, the resources aren't always available in languages other than English. "Adopting [curriculum] to our Spanish immersion program is always very challenging, so I was really excited to have this opportunity to go abroad, to learn, to grow, and then bring that back to my students so we can learn and grow together."
