Luciana Ranelli of the Lake Superior Reserve and Margie Menzies from Hawk Ridge have been working together to make birding a more accessible activity for all. Along with various other partners, they are hosting an "Everyone Can Bird" event on Saturday, October 14th from 9:30-11:30am as part of World Migratory Bird Day.

For some members in the community, getting out isn't an easy task. "We're trying to get those folks out and involved," say Menzies. Transportation to Hawk Ridge will be offered from the Superior Public Library at 9am and ASL interpreters will be on site at the event. "This series started about a years ago," says Ranelli. "This is one way that we're working toward accessibility and representation in our work."

Registration for the event is available online at the website for the Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve.

You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
