Backyard Almanac: Migrants and Mushrooms

Surprisingly, August is not too early to be talking about autumn.

The days are getting noticeably shorter and, believe it or not, some leaves are already changing color. Migration is also beginning for some birds; folks at Hawk Ridge already have their eyes on the skies.

The drought continues. Swamps are drying up and precipitation remains below average for the summer. Despite the conditions, berries, wildflowers and other plants are still providing a visual spectacle.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
