Head outside and you can't miss the signs of summer. Frogs are still calling from the vernal ponds, the caterpillars and butterflies are abundant, and the late-season dragonflies are starting to crop up.

Along with earlier sightings of fireflies and even some early avian migrants, there's a lot to see. "We've still got a week left in the month of July, but it looks like there's going to be plenty happening," says Larry Weber. "Enjoy the heat."

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
