Going on a garden tour is more than just looking at pretty plants and landscaping, it's about gathering together and getting motivated. "It's really about... inspiring people to garden," says Tom Kasper.
The next few weeks are laden with garden tours throughout the area. Tonight, the Carlton County Master Gardeners are hosting their tour of country gardens. Thursday is the "big one" - the Duluth Women's Club Tour. Each year it garners roughly a 450-person crowd. Tickets are required and can be found online. Still more tours are scheduled over the upcoming weeks of July and into August.
Kasper recommends carpooling, not just to up the odds of finding parking, but also to share the experience. "Do it as a group and that makes it even more fun."
You can hear Tips for Hardy Gardeners every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
