Old-tyme country, acoustic three-piece Junkyard Mule plays original songs and classic covers about drifting, drinking and long-lost love. The band’s music sounds like it was made in the back room of a crossroads general store sometime around 1950. After hours. With a little homemade hooch to lighten the load. Junkyard Mule hasn’t released any work yet, but when it does it should be on both Spotify and shellac. The supergroup features vocalist and guitar/mandolin player Nate Hynum, bassist Jennifer Krussow and fiddle ace Clancy Ward.
Glitteratti consists of songwriter Marc Gartman on guitar (Two Many Banjos, Fever Dream), Dave Carroll on electric guitar (Trampled by Turtles, Two Many Banjos), Tim Saxhaug on bass (Trampled by Turtles, Dead Man Winter) and Kyle Keegan on drums (Ben Howard, Mandolin Orange), and was formed in Duluth, MN in 2013. Their debut full length album, Among the Wild, was produced by Steve Garrington (Low) and will be released March 6, 2020. Side A consists of songs they recorded in 2019 with Brian Frederick Joseph (Bon Iver, Paul Simon) at his studio in Eau Claire, hive. Side B, originally released as an EP entitled In Pasadena in 2017, is made up of material they recorded with Lance Conrad (Lizzo, HALEY) at his Humans Win! Studio in Minneapolis.

Sophie Hiroko began writing songs as a teenager and found an audience last summer. In the fall, she recruited bassist Ned Netzel and drummer Tommy Kishida to help transform her songs into a fully formed sound that falls into the self-described genre of “tender bubblegrunge.” Kishida is leaving the band before Homegrown, but Leif Hinkel has stepped in to take over the drums. George Ellsworth was recently added on keys.
