Erik Koskinen is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose music is not categorized by sub-genres. Stylistically he is on his own. Influenced by roots music of the Americas and the world, the rhythmic integrity and musical tone are as important as the lyrical content and the artistic intent. || Erik Koskinen’s Burning the Deal (released June 28, 2019 on Real Phonic Records/Tone Tree Music) is steeped in American roots traditions. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado, raised in Northern Michigan and upper New York state, then living in urban Minneapolis and now, rural Minnesota, Koskinen grew up with the rhythms of weather, factory towns, and farmlands. ClimesClimes is a musical collaboration among five seasoned, Minnesota-based artists: Drew (songwriter, vocals, lute dulcimer), Clif Nesseth (fiddle, flute, guitar), Rebecca Alsum (cello), Steve Dalager (acoustic bass and vocals) and Zack Baltich (percussion). Climes showcases an Americana sound that bends and blends folk, rock and bluegrass. Lyrically, the songs are bound up in the issues of the day and the sentiments of musicians who seek a more just and inclusive world. We'll let the songs say the rest.
ELOUR(pronounced "allure") is what Elizabeth Ghandour categorizes as Femme Rock. Elizabeth’s direct lyrics, diverse background and classically trained voice, backed by master players including Ned Barclay on lead guitar, Anita Cracauer on keys, Joe Scarpellino on bass, Ryan Vee on drums, and Brody Kucera on percussion, pushes sonic boundaries for a raucous, rebellious, and yet very stylish sound that is simultaneously new yet familiar, and terrifically energizing.
The Desire StoreMinneapolis-Duluth band The Desire Store draws on the 25-year songwriting repertoire of Eddy Burke (vocals/guitar) featuring violin by his wife Laura Burke and saxophone by Jason Keppe; Jason and Laura alternate on the bass and cajon to hold down the rhythm section. Eddy’s background in the folk singer-songwriter scene, Jason’s foundation in multiple jazz ensembles and Laura’s orchestral upbringing meld to form an eclectic, versatile, genre-bending sound with three-part harmonies and plenty of sax for dancing.
