Community Connection: "Pride in the Park" in Two Harbors

Two Harbors Pride

This Saturday is the third annual Pride in the Park celebration at the Thomas Owens Bandshell Park in Two Harbors. The event goes from noon through 4pm, and the celebrating continues into the evening.

The event begins with the "Twinkle Parade" and also includes music from Hannah Rey, a drag show, and the Poetry Glam, which will be hosted this year by Henry Kneiszel. "I was lucky enough to read in it last year," says Kneiszel. "The organizers reached out to me afterwards to see if I would like to host this year." People who would like to read this year can still sign up.

After the celebration in the park, events continue with a pub crawl around Two Harbors. At 5pm, comedian Danielle Thralow will deliver a set at The Harbor Rail Pub, at 6:15pm is drag at the Tipsy Mosquito, and the scheduled events conclude with a dance party at Castle Danger Brewery with music by DJ Angel Kelly.

Beyond the schedule, attendees will likely notice that Pride events are more than just a celebration of art and entertainment. "It's just a big community experience where people are showing up in lots of different ways," says Kneiszel. "Community is such a powerful and important thing for - not just joy - but also keeping people safe and allowing people to be authentic and true to themselves."

More information about all of the events and the presenting organization can be found on the Two Harbors Pride website.
