"It's sort of a contemporary folktale," says Dan Prevette, one of the actors in the upcoming theatrical production of Witch at Zeitgeist. The show opens on July 30th and runs through August 8th. "There are all these plots about social standing and power and what a soul is worth."
The story takes place in a fictional village where a demon has come to barter for souls. Elizabeth - a woman accused of being a witch - proves problematic to the demon. A variety of other characters follow a parallel storyline with thematic similarities. "The director, Anika Thompson... she has done a really great job of integrating [the cast] together," says Chani Ninneman who plays the title character. "It's a different kind of show. It's really neat."
Tickets for Witch are available online via the Zeitgeist Arts website, and can also be purchased in advance at the Zinema box office at 222 E Superior Street in Duluth
