Before looking ahead to the week in art, Annie Dugan looks back at the passing of a connective artist in the Northland.
"Cheryl Husby was really just a powerhouse of connection and inspiration," says Annie Dugan regarding Husby who founded Husby Pottery along with her husband. "Lots of folks have Husby Pottery in their kitchen, in their dining room." Husby was also known for her ability to connect artists in the area with various gatherings and events.
On Wednesday, the 5th of November from 5-7pm, Zeitgeist will host the opening of Carolyn Olson's new exhibit. Chosen Family and Mutual Aid focuses on stories of connection and family through Olson's unique visual style. "Olson's voice as an artist is one that is really specific and beautiful," says Dugan.
At Karpeles Manuscript Museum, the work of Constance Johnson is being coupled with the letters that are on display. "The new exhibition right now is all about the Stamp Act," says Dugan. "There's actual, original letters between the colonies and the British monarchy about taxation."
