The Duluth Children's Museum is eying up plans for expansion. With recent financial support from the Legacy Fund through the Minnesota Humanities Center, and additional funding being sought through the state legislature, dreams for the future are becoming more realistic.
"The money will go toward hiring an Exhibit and Education Director," says Drew Jensen, the Executive Director for the Duluth Children's Museum. "We're going to be able to sit as a leadership team and look at what we currently have and just dream and brainstorm." With some money in hand, and other funding being worked toward, the museum is also looking to improve some first-floor issues, expand to the second floor of their building, and to make the outdoor "concrete jungle" space greener.
Accessibility will also be a priority for the Duluth Children's Museum - an elevator providing access to the second floor is on the top of the list. Other potential ideas for expansion include a STEM lab and some additional height to their existing climber.
