Sicangu Lakota Nation member David Heska Wanbli Weiden, author of the award-winning novel Winter Counts, will be making his way from his home in Colorado to Duluth for the Olga Walker Awards later this month.

The event, put on by the Duluth Library Foundation, is a celebration of the library and writers, and way to recognize those that have made significant contributions toward the Duluth Library in the past year. The program for the 7th Annual Olga Walker Awards, from 12-3pm next Sunday, includes a conversation with David Heska Wanbli Weiden (moderated by Christina Woods), an awards ceremony, brunch buffet, and a Q&A with the author.

For more information or to get tickets to the Olga Walker Awards and Author Event, visit the event website. More information about David Heska Wanbli Weiden can be found on the author's website.

You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning. This edition of Community Connection is made possible in part by Lakewalk Surgery Center.
