For the past fifteen years, Annie Roseen has been at the helm with Bold Choice Theatre in Duluth. In that time, the troupe has taken on tall tales, whodunnits, sci-fi, and has often presented classics with a twist. For their latest production, Sundown on the Jasper County Jewel, the crew is tackling a western musical. "We're really an ensemble cast that decides together... what do we want to do," says Roseen.
Bold Choice Theatre focuses on inclusivity and social responsibility, themes that often (but don't always) show up in the final product. The musical element to Sundown was a new one for the group, who enlisted Toby Churchill to act as music director.
One of the veteran actors appearing on-stage is Rob Reedy, who hasn't missed performing in a show since his role as a baker in Beauty and the Beasts. "It was a pretty wild experience for me the first time," says Reedy. "Since then, I've just been rocking it and just loving it."
