Nerd. The term has a certain connotation, but the concept has changed with the times. Nerd Nite, happening tonight in Duluth, may be the case in point.
Both Adam Brisk and Luke Sharman are hosts and organizers for the local chapter of Nerd Nite, an event that features niche presentations, games, music, and door prizes. The presentation ranges from serious to not-so-serious. You might see a presentation on the 2008 banking crisis one moment and then hear a deep dive defending Michael Bay films the next. Tonight, attendees can expect to learn about Georgian surgeons, local holiday light displays, and the fictional geo-politics of Netflix Christmas movies.
Nerd Nite begins at 7pm at Studio 4 in the basement of the Duluth Depot. Tickets for available for $5 at the door. For more information, visit the Duluth Nerd Nite website.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
