This week, Annie Dugan focuses a lot on the far reaches of the North Shore. Though noted for its art any time of the year, Grand Marais has a few highlights this week.
The Grand Marais Art Colony is showing Air-Openness through August 26th. The exhibition is presented by four artist who take a mixed-medium approach to presenting their work. "It's a testament to both the individual artist's creativity as well as the curatorial presence at the Grand Marais Art Colony," says Dugan.
Also in Grand Marais is the Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery that always has something on display. The Gallery currently has a request out for proposals for an artist to design a permanent piece for the plaza entrance. "They're looking for folks that have a creative vision for their space."
Here in Duluth, Minnesota artist Sara Pajunen presents Listening Through Context at the Joseph Nease Gallery. The exhibit focuses on stories of mining that often go unheard. Pajunen brings photography to the exhibit as well as audible compositions.
