They've got AC. The Tweed Museum could be a great afternoon adventure for those interested in beating the heat and taking in a wide variety of art forms.
Currently, the Tweed (open Tuesday-Saturday) on the UMD campus is highlighting some student videos with a range of subjects. "These are films... that cover Lake Superior, the radio station at UMD, the Nopeming Sanatorium, the rise of AI, drag queens," says Annie Dugan. "There's one about a local witch."
Also at the Tweed is the exhibition Clay Culture: Diverse Selections from the Ceramics Collection. The twenty-eight piece exhibit focuses on underrepresented voices in the world of clay. "These are BIPOC voices that have some really great things to say through this medium," says Dugan.
Finally, the Duluth Art Institute put out a call for help. Today (July 24th, 2023) at 11am, members of the DAI will be hosting a press conference at the St. Louis County Depot. "Their bid for lease space at the Depot was rejected," says Dugan. The conference will focus on the future of the DAI. "They've been an important part of our community for over a hundred years... figuring out the next chapter is going to be really important."
You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
