Back in February, Annie Dugan noted the exhibit at Prøve gallery titled “Waiting for Beds” – an issue driven art event that focuses on the health care crisis. This Saturday, April 1st from 2-4pm there will be a community panel moderated by one of the artists behind the exhibit. The event is an opportunity to connect the community to the cause through art and conversation. “I think art can offer us an opportunity to empathize with others in ways that we might not normally be able to do,” say Dugan.
Prøve is also putting out a call for art. “They’re looking for work in any medium,” says Dugan. The topic is “X”; a symbol of intersectionality, change, identity and more.
The new exhibition at Duluth Art Institute by Carole d'Inverno is titled “I Didn’t Know How to Say Goodbye” and will include an upcoming conversation with the artist on April 4th. “It’s really wonderful when we can see something first and have a conversation with ourselves about it,” says Dugan. “It’s always richer when we have come to it and seen certain things that we see in the work.” The exhibit consists of large-scale pieces as well as small drawings. “The kinds of stories she’s telling… are really beautiful.” The exhibit ties together stories of immigration that are seen in different areas today.
