Where's Art: The Season of Crafting

"I want to encourage the artists out there to look at the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council," says Annie Dugan. A grant deadline is coming up for arts support from ARAC. In addition to that grant deadline, ARAC is offering Wednesday workshops to write grants. Workshops are held virtually at 5:30pm Visit the ARAC website for more information.

And after the technical side of art is taken care of, enjoy the crafting opportunities that are happening in the area this week. And there are many.

The Duluth Library has lots of fun upcoming events. Next Tuesday from 5-7:30pm, visit the downtown library for the DIY ugly sweater event. "You provide the sweater, they'll provide the ugly." And don't forget about Crafternoon's at the Mount Royal branch.

Karin Kraemer at Duluth Pottery is hosting a class focused on ornaments. Kraemer creates bright, functional objects and she'll be teaching a glazing technique for Christmas ornaments.

Bent Paddle Brewery is hosting the Bolder Lake ELC for a wreath making class on Tuesday the 13th. Make your own or... “For folks who aren’t interesting in putting theirs together they can buy one at the door," says Dugan.

The Duluth Maker’s space is having a lapidary class. "This is gemstones and important stones for jewelry making," says Dugan.

If you're more interested in perusing the art that others have made, visit the Nice Girls of the North marketplace at the Spirit of the Lake Community School and Peace Church which plays host to a neighbor-made craft and bazaar. Both events are this Saturday.
