The Tweed Museum of Art is hosting a celebration for Karissa White Isaacs who passed in 2021. White was the curator for almost ten years and focused on bringing in objects that added to stories that needed to be told at the museum. “The legacy lives on in the collection that she built," says Dugan.
The celebration takes place this Saturday from 12–3pm at the Tweed on the campus of the University of Minnesota–Duluth. The event will include speakers, food, and an announcement of a scholarship. White is also the recipient of an ARAC lifetime achievement award. That too will be revisited and celebrated.
Dugan also brings forth a book recommendation. "Less light means a lot more book reading,” says Dugan. Jerry Saltz is an art critic who recently released a collection of his reviews. The book is titled Art is Life. "It’s a hopeful look at what the art world can be.”
”This is sort of a two-for-one recommendation,” says Dugan who also recommends following the author on social media. Saltz has an on-line presence that is “delightful.” Dugan says, “I always get a chuckle out of the things that he brings to the surface."
