Opening Reception: Metamorphose:Annie Dugan says Sara Brokke's exhibition Metamorphose, opening Friday at the Prøve Gallery, is a "raw and vulnerable" exhibition of paintings - or as the gallery calls it, "a personal mythology."
McKnight Center for Book Arts Information Session: It's no doubt possible to be a reader and a lover of books without knowing anything about "book arts," but since the McKnight Foundation is funding two $25,000 fellowships "which will allow Minnesota book artists to set aside time for study, reflection, opportunities, new projects, experimentation, and exploration," it might be worth looking into it a little more. The Duluth Art Institute is holding an informational session about the fellowships on Thursday, and you can also spend some little time looking around the Minnesota Center for Book Arts online.
Annie's book pick this week is Hot, Cold, Heavy, Light by Peter Schjeldahl: "100 writings—some long, some short—that taken together form a group portrait of many of the world’s most significant and interesting artists."
