Logo for YMCA and Ture North Americorps

Haley Lawson worked as an Americorps member at Myers-Wilkins Elementary in Duluth before going abroad to serve in the Peace Corps. Several years and countries later, a position opened up with True North Americorps, thus prompting Lawson's return to the Northland.

True North Americorps offers opportunities to those interested in serving their community. Service option vary in time commitment from a few months to a full calendar year in schools and other youth programs. "We are an education-based program," says Lawson. "Anywhere there's youth, we're a part of that community."

This year marks 20 years of True North Americorps. On November 1st, TNAC will host a celebration at Zeitgeist from 5-8pm. The event includes speakers, an alumni panel, networking, and food.

To learn more about the event and opportunities with True North Americorps, visit the Duluth YMCA website.
