Austin, Minnesota native Martin Zellar first made his mark as part of the Gear Daddies, a pioneering alt-country band that was part of the vibrant Minneapolis music scene of the '80s. More recently he's been performing as a solo artist; his latest release, Head West, was recorded at his own studio in Central Mexico, where he now lives. North Country Jukebox host Starfire, who also grew up in Austin, spoke with Zellar on October 4, 2023, in advance of an album release show on October 7 at Sacred Heart Music Center in Duluth.
