Backyard Almanac: Spider Webs!

As August creeps toward a close, there's plenty to see in the outdoors. Recent rains have encouraged a crop of mushrooms, counters at Hawk Ridge are spotting more than just hawks, and - ever so slowly - the leaves are beginning to turn.

But the real excitement might be found in the early hours of foggy mornings. Late-summer spiders have grown large, and so too have their webs. Collections of beaded dew on the ornate creations offer a visual treat for those out for a dawn hike.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.

Luke Moravec is the host for Northland Morning on The North 103.3. He’s also a local actor, musician and writer. He loves puzzles, riddles and fun mysteries.
