"Awesome August is living up to its name," says Larry Weber.

Though there are plenty of sights, sounds and smells to take in this month, so far August has been short on one thing in particular: rain. As of the 8th, less than 1/100th of an inch of rain has fallen on the Northland.

This year, early August is host to several cosmic sights. The full moon will rise on August 9th, the Perseid meteor shower approaches its peak over the weekend, and Venus and Jupiter will be in conjunction just before sunrise on August 12th.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
