Since March, the St. Louis River Alliance has been hosting "Water Wednesdays" at Harrison Community Center in Duluth. The gatherings are offered to field questions about recreating in the St. Louis River and to provide information about the ongoing restoration.
"Some of the large topics have been areas where [attendees] want to paddle, so access points have been huge," says Mikayla Erickson, National Water Trail Coordinator with St. Louis River Alliance, who has helped recreators find rental locations and has provided restoration updates. "The riverside communities have been historically cut off and now we have beautiful access points, we have clean water, we can go fishing again."
The final "Water Wednesdays" event for the season takes place July 9th from 10am-noon at Harrison Community Center (3002 W 3rd Street in Duluth). Free coffee, donuts, and water-related crafts will be offered to attendees.
You can hear Green Visions at 8:20am every Wednesday on Northland Morning.
