Backyard Almanac: The Flowers Say Spring is Over

It seems that everyone has thoughts about when summer actually starts. Some say June 1st, some say Memorial Day, others say it's the solstice, and even the flowers have an opinion. Larry Weber always looks to the wildflowers in the fields outnumbering those in the woods as the indicator of spring being over.

And just to add a bit more to the seasonal confusion, the dogwood trees are casting down their annual snowfall of fluff making things look quite winter-like.

But whatever season it looks like, you're bound to start seeing and hearing the sounds of babies. Birds are busy tending to their young as are a variety of mammals and reptiles.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
