Backyard Almanac: The Arrival of Insects, Turtles, and Rain

Happy Summer? According to meteorologists, we're already there. Following suit, the landscape continues to green, the days keep getting longer, and rejuvenating rainy days are likely right around the corner.

Plenty of animals are starting to show up in greater numbers. The majority of the bird migration is over, but new fliers will be evident every day as insects begin to burst onto the scene. Dragonflies particularly are in abundance in the month of June.

It's also a good time to look to the waters. Although frog sightings have been scant thus far, turtles are starting to pop out of the water to perch on logs and make the most of the end of spring... or beginning of summer, depending on who you ask.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
