Backyard Almanac: Heat, Green, and Trillium

Two blooming trilliums in a green patch of plants

Spring has already given the Northland a taste of Summer - the first half of May has set or matched some record high temps. The heat has, for the most part, been coupled with dry days, but the current forecast looks to provide some balance in both precipitation and temperature.

The season is greening, and wildflowers are bursting with Trillium leading the way. Following the blooming flowers and leafing trees are the insect, and following the insects are the hungry birds.

Keep on eye on the ground as well - snakes, turtles and many other critters are emerging from a winter away in order to make the most of the warm days ahead.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
