Snow hit the ground yesterday, but it seems like the rain will be getting first billing from here on. Our resident expert Tom Kasper is looking forward to the rain and the subsequent greening of buds and chutes.
Bumping rain from the headlines, Tom Kasper (who has been gardening for years growing all different types of vegetation) is trying something new. This year, he's doing one thing in his garden a little differently: he's inviting chickens.
After purchasing chicks last week, Kasper says his goal is to raise a garden with the chickens. It's not a new trend - chickens used for better gardens dates back hundreds of years. Chickens help with fertilization, aerating soil, eating bugs, and weeding. It's also a plus to get some eggs at a cheaper price.
